Phishing is a crime commit against users ( that’s you ) over either email or instant messenger. A phisher will attempt to get your personal information, financial/credit card information, or even your login and password to your online accounts. Phishing is basically a new spin on the age old art of CON-ing. The criminal tries to gain your confidence by masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in an online communication. It even happened to myself once when I received a VERY VERY official looking email from what I thought was an angry ebay buyer. So in a panic I clicked on the link in the email and it all looked legit AND it even logged me into my ebay account, but only after it recorded my login and password. After I realized there was not such item as the email mentioned on ebay, I quickly changed my password. So if you do get tricked, don’t just let it go, change your passwords IMMEDIATELY! And as always, if you fear that you have been the victim of a phishing scam ( attack ) and you are in our service area; just call Smart Computing and a security consultant will work with you to get your private information private and keep it that way.
